About Us
A full-service independent film production company based in Glasgow. Buckle Up Films work has been featured by The Independent and Tatler magazine. We shoot on 4K film cameras including Blackmagic and ARRI.
Before founding Buckle Up Films in 2016, Hannah and Matt gained over 20 years combined experience in the media industry working on programmes broadcast/available for streaming on BBC, Netflix, Channel 4, ITV and Sky One and working on feature films and feature documentaries for production companies including Vertigo Films and Dartmouth Films.
Co-founders Hannah and Matt were classmates from 2003 studying a BA in Film & Video at The Surrey Institute of Art & Design. During their studies, both shot several films on 16mm film. Shooting on film, editing on a Steenbeck, cutting the film by hand and splicing the cut film together again, taught them a lot of technical skills. It also taught them discipline in the production and post-production of filmmaking which has influenced their approach to digital filmmaking.

Hannah Ava Dahl
Co-founder
Hannah’s first job was as a runner on an ITV production. For the next 11 years, she worked across factual & reality TV, feature films & feature documentaries.
The films she has worked on have been nominated for many awards including a BAFTA TV Award, two Grierson Awards, two World Cinema Grand Jury Awards at Sundance Film Festival & a British Independent Film Award.
Feature documentaries she has worked on have been officially selected by Sundance Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival & Sheffield Doc/Fest.
Hannah works across all aspects at Buckle Up Films from development right through to distribution.
Matt Kokvik
Co-founder
Matt (Mats) experience comes from a background of working in many different roles within TV dramas, reality TV, a music channel, feature films, short films, commercials, music videos & corporate production.
He has produced & directed several music videos, one of which was selected for The Best Music Video of the Year 2009 at the Norwegian Short Films Festival. Others have been broadcast on MTV Nordic, NRK & TV2 Norway, as well as featured on the online music magazine Metal Hammer.
As a corporate filmmaker, he has worked with well known brands such as Toyota, 7 Eleven, Manpower & Clear Channel.
Matt is also a highly experienced editor. At Buckle Up Films he works on the entire production line.
